Project Management Theories And Models Response To Colleague Project

RESPONSE 2

Response 2 (Application)

Sarah H.

My colleague indicates that amongst other things, the relevance of effective team coordination and leadership, as well as pursuit of properly defined project goals/objectives, cannot be overstated in project management. She further observes that there is need for enhanced awareness about the organization-wide impact of proposed changes. It would be prudent to observe that there is also need to consider how project management efforts could in turn be affected by factors unique to the organization, i.e. organizational structure. This is more so the case given that according to Gullatte (2011), a company's organizational structure may dictate the level of project management, who makes ultimate project decisions, the communication of project goals and tasks (173). In addition to highlighting a number of change models namely the behavior change model and the systems awareness model, my colleague also indicates that in the absence of an established framework, it would be difficult to sustain the project in the long-term. It is on this basis that a systematic approach has been provided. Ultimately, as Sipes (2015) indicates, the approach embraced should be optimized to ensure improved patient outcomes.

My colleague indicates that systems thinking comes in handy in efforts to promote problem solving. This is an assertion further advanced by Bove and Houston (2010) who indicate that thanks to systems thinking, it is possible to analyze a problem or prevailing issue and get better insight of the various elements that are either affected by the said problem or interact with it in certain formats. With this understanding, it becomes easier to pursue the relevant objectives as well as goals. Some of the theories that have been identified by my colleague are the innovation diffusion theory and Lewins change management theory. She further makes an observation to the effect that theories come in handy in the development of better understanding of the issue. Richardson (2010) further indicates that owing to the complexity of project management, theories help in the development of better perspectives following the easement of complex phenomena.
